Water Information Summit - (WIS-12)

Hotel Santo Domingo, República Dominicana
November 2-3, 2010

The Water Information Summit (WIS) is the flagship conference of the WaterWeb Consortium which promotes the sharing of information concerning water and the earth’s environment. Our organization seeks to create a global community, bringing together educational, governmental, nonprofit, & commercial entities interested in water research, conservation, and management; linked electronically via the Internet. WaterWeb’s goals are to advance water related issues, promote the use of quality information, and share information with water use stakeholders and decision makers. WIS annual conferences have been held in Florida, Panama, The Netherlands, Mexico, Guatemala, Brazil, El Salvador, and Chile.

The theme for WIS-12 which will take place in the Dominican Republic, 2-3 November, 2010, is "Water Information for Disaster Preparedness," with focus on what information is needed, what is available, and what needs to be generated and communicated to civil society, government, and agencies based on "real life" experiences. The meeting will be hosted by the WaterWeb Consortium in association with INDRHI/CEHICA, UNESCO, GLOWS and CES. The program agenda is attached. More information can be found at our website: http://www.WaterWeb.org
